Hello, loves. If you've come here from the MMM blog, you know the score. if not, the score is this - The Lusty Lands is a quirky little menu driven crpg with adult content and old school pixel art, available for Windows, Mac and Linux. It is still in beta, but there is lots to do and eleven towns to explore, and having people play it while I'm working on it helps me get it super ace before release. I am making it in an attempt to break my creative block on another game I am working on, have been working on it for around ten days, and hope to have an alpha version ready to go inside the next couple of weeks. Oh, and I am SeldomPie. Hello! How are you?
This game is free to download, but if you enjoy it, and can afford it, it might be nice if you threw me a crust! Neither myself or my girlfriend are in regular employment at the moment, and the kindness of strangers is what keeps us from being homeless.
As a reward/encouragement, everyone who donates $10 gets to vote on a new village that I'll add to the game. Pick from the choices below, state which one you'd like to see in the text box on the payment form, and remember you get one vote for every $10. I'll keep posting updates here to let you know how the voting`s going.
As an added incentive, I'll be happy to add a custom player character set up to the game for anyone who donates $25 or more. Just let me know the name you want the character to have, and a description of them. It needn't be a run down of the various variables that describe characters in game, just a few sentences describing them will do, and as long as it's not outlandishly detailed or complicated, I'll get it in. I reserve the right to refuse to add any part or aspect, but I doubt that will be an issue. Remember though, the player starts as an everyday person from "the real world", so I might veto any requests to start with tentacle nipples. :P
Okay! Beta version 0.02 should be downloadable from the link on the sidebar, and if that doesn't work, click here - http://www.mediafire.com/?xvjqhyl7okt0pue
The version 0.02 should have a slew of bug fixes, including bottles of booze not vanishing from inventory when they should, two more towns having stores, all towns now having menial jobs, a viking trainer, and a library. Bear in mind that the game is still being developed - you can't win, combat is still a bit buggy, and I'd recommend saving in every town.
Let me know any bug reports, typos and suggestions here. Thanks a lot guys, I've had a great response for this so far, and it's fun to work on. Ended up spending most of today on the blog and bug fixing, next release should have more obvious new content.
Jow Seldom pie did you receive my email Yesterday?
ReplyDeleteWhoops, it had gone into the spam folder, got it now.
ReplyDeleteUhmmm... Can't seem to be able to use any inventory items...
ReplyDeleteIs there something obvious I'm missing?
"The version 0.02 should have a slew of bug fixes, including bottles of booze not vanishing from inventory when they should". Wot, no more free booze?
ReplyDeleteHad to be said. ;) I'm loving the details, like the line about the beer having that special glow you only get in pubs on sunny days. ^_^ Oh and the Boff Inn!
Do you want typo reports? So far I've got samaratin (Samaritan). Gods Batteries should probably be God's Batteries (or Gods'). Last sentence of Tallis description should have "they" instead of "the". Leaving ... Gillsport is spelled "Gillsportr" and said to be north on the button, instead of northwest as on the exit description screen. Gillsport inn: Selkies -> Selkie's. Cordenia; looking for missy pipes: adress should be address. Leaving Cordenia, "to" and "West" got swapped on the Branston button (should be "West to" not "to West"). Norton's Liquor "sells gin and whiskey, and sells the same." Cordenia is spelled as Cordania in more than one place, I think. The grammar is ambiguous in the place where you learn about Frosty Bigguns in Boff; it looks wrong but could mean Grody Steppes is the name of the pass.
Other quirks:
* I'm a girl, why does the farmer in Cordenia warn me away from his daughters?
* How do the people in the desert town know of the Grody Steppes? That's not the mountain range that's north of them, and they won't go through the caves to get through that range.
* Inventory tells me i can carry three items, but it won't let me buy a third item, saying I'm carrying too much.
* An awful lot of the journeys happen 'without incident'. I'd prefer repeat encounters to all this nothing. :)
Also I think I missed most of the instructions because I was looking at the chargen. :D I may not have, I just didn't look up for the first two screens of chargen.
Anon - there's no inventory you can actually use yet, apart form the bombs! The booze is just trade fodder. The options of using bombs should appear in combat, if you have bombs on you. If it dosen't, let me know, because it should!
ReplyDeleteeekee - Thanks for the bug reports, and glad you're enjoying it! You didn't miss anything with the "free booze" - the booze was vanishing, but the space it was taking up was still occupied. It was like, quantum booze. I think that's what happened with your unusable space in your bag, too. That'll be a pain to track down...
And good catch on the desert town and the grody steppes, I guess I got the mountan ranges mixed up. You know the layout of my world better than me :P
Will there be lusty nuns in the Crazy religious village?
ReplyDeleteThe Lusty Nuns would be in the Abbey, of course :P
ReplyDeleteCrazy religious village would be more repressed puritans/catholic girl types. And a crazy priest, for sure.
